The Lions rested running back Reggie Bush on Friday, multiple media outlets, including the club’s website, reported.
According to Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com, resting Bush occasionally could be part of the club’s standard procedure going forward.
Bush participated in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He has played in seven of eight games this season, rushing for 518 yards and two TDs on 119 carries and catching 31 passes for 335 yards and two scores.
The Lions play at Chicago on Sunday. Both teams are 5-3. In the first matchup between the teams in September, Bush rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries in Detroit’s 40-32 victory. He also caught four passes for 34 yards.
