The Panthers and 49ers are playing a physical, hard-hitting game, and it’s taking its toll on the home team.

Safety Eric Reid is the second 49ers starter to leave the game with a concussion, following tight end Vernon Davis.

Reid was flattened trying to tackle Panthers fullback Mike Tolbert earlier in the second half, was taken to the locker room and won’t return.

Graham Gano just hit a 53-yard field goal to give the Panthers a 10-9 lead, in a game that ought to have been broadcast in black and white.
