Eagles quarterback Michael Vick won’t play today, and it might be some time before he does.
Vick told Albert Breer of the NFL Network he’s still “a week or two away” from coming back from his hamstring.
Of course, that might be a moot point, as there’s increasing belief that he’s coming back as the backup to Nick Foles whenever he does come back.
With owner Jeffrey Lurie declaring the need for a franchise quarterback, and not describing Vick as one of the options, the writing has been on the wall. He’s not going to be part of the long-term solution, so the short-term answer will be to see if the quarterback of the future is already there.
But for at least another week or so, Vick won’t even be available for them to bypass, as they give Foles every chance to prove he’s not the guy before they go looking for another one.
