Just when the 49ers begin to get some wide receivers back, their tight ends started disappearing.
The 49ers were forced to play without Vernon Davis (concussion) and backup Garrett Celek (hamstring) during much of yesterday’s loss to the Panthers, and they might have to go outside to find some help.
“We’re looking at some options right now and there are some decisions to be made,” coach Jim Harbaugh said, via Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. “We’ll wait until we get some medical results back.”
Practice squad tight end Derek Carrier is a possibility, but they might have to look outside depending on the severity of the injuries.
Davis, along with safety Eric Reid, will be in the league’s concussion protocol and will have to be cleared by an independent neurologist.
