Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson reported for work with his teammates on Monday, his first day at the team’s facility since he was arrested early Saturday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated.

Simpson didn’t talk about the case, but did say he had spoken to his teammates about the arrest and the potential for distraction that comes along with it. He went on to apologize to the team and Vikings fans for the arrest.

“I sincerely apologize for the attention that I have brought to the fans, community and myself,” Simpson said, via the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I’ve just got great support with this team, and they’re going to help with whatever arises.”

Simpson said that he expects to be in the lineup against the Seahawks next Sunday, but wouldn’t talk about a possible suspension beyond that. Simpson was suspended three games to start the 2012 season after pleading guilty to drug charges. Those charges also brought a sentence of three years probation, which could lead to further legal trouble for Simpson down the road.
