The definition of week-to-week as it pertains to Bears quarterback Jay Cutler does not include this week.

Bears coach Marc Trestman just told reporters that Cutler would not play this week against the Ravens, and that backup Josh McCown would get the start.

Cutler has a high ankle sprain, unrelated to the groin injury which sidelined him previously.

Trestman defended his use of Cutler, though it should have been apparent he wasn’t himself. Declaring him out early should also help alleviate the problems of expectations, which Cutler didn’t help by pushing himself back faster than initially anticipated.
