Cowboys will be without Justin Durant for 3-4 weeks as well

When it rains at linebacker for the Cowboys, it pours.

Nick Eatman of the team’s website reports that owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that linebacker Justin Durant will miss up to a month after suffering a hamstring injury in last Sunday’s loss to the Saints. That’s the same amount of time that Sean Lee is expected to miss¬†with his own hamstring issue, leaving the Cowboys shorthanded at linebacker for the near future.

The Cowboys have a bye this week and then return to action against the Giants in Week 12 in a game that could have major implications for the NFC East race. They’ll follow that up with a Thanksgiving date with the Raiders, so it’s not like they’ll be facing offensive juggernauts in either game.

Of course, the Cowboys defense hasn’t been good enough this season to be overflowing with confidence against any opposition. That’s doubly true when you’re down a pair of starting linebackers.

The Cowboys are used to calling up free agents off the street and putting them in their starting lineup. Why should now be any different?

The Cowboys have some talented players, but paid to much for them and thus have no depth behind them. Every year we hear all about their potential, and each year they fall far short of it. The problem is not injuries — all teams get them; they are inevitable — but the Cowboy’s failure to prepare for them. Their poor drafting and¬†overplaying of players leaves them no salary cap space to fill in the gaps with decent free agents.

Looks like the Cowboys are lucky they don’t face Philly again till week 17. But then again, it may be a done deal already by then.

You are correct. Cowboys always pay starters way to much. No quality subs. Look at the big question though. Why is this team always having hamstring issues. Need to look at the strength and conditioning guy. I think the defense only has two starters left from start of the season.

If the Redskins beat Philly this week, the healthiest team in the NFCE will win the division.

Still have Carter and Sims, need to find a guy to be the band-aid along with Holloman and maybe just maybe eek something out. I don’t think Cameron Lawerence is the solution. Nor if the Boz’s nephew.

Man the amount of injuries this season is mind boggling….. Albright hurt and released, Crawford achilles, Spencer microfracture, Bass year, Clairborne shoulder on opening night, he’s been in and out. JJ Wilcox, Austin with his hammy, the Jay Ratliff fiasco, Murray with time, Ware with time, Hatcher this week, now Lee and Durant. And let’s not forget that Waters comes in, kicks everyone’s butt gets the o-line mean and then tears the triceps. And i just remembered the Edgar Jones guy we traded for from KC for some SP depth.

The Cowboys have depth, they’ve just been forced to play it all year as starters…….snakebit again.

Durant is just awful in pass coverage. This will force them to play Holloman the rookie LB who is very good in coverage. Probably going to work out for the good actually.
