For Demaryius Thomas, three touchdowns equal one AFC offensive player of the week

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been named the AFC offensive player of the week twice this season, but he’s no longer the only member of the Broncos offense to receive weekly honors from the league.

Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas is this week’s honoree after scoring three touchdowns in Denver’s 28-20 victory over the Chargers. He was the first Broncos player to catch three touchdowns since Shannon Sharpe did it in 2003.

Thomas’ three touchdowns in just about 10 minutes of game action and proved crucial to the winning effort as the Chargers hung close for much of the afternoon. Thomas, who is the first Broncos wideout to win weekly honors since Brandon Marshall in 2009, had seven catches and 108 yards overall in the victory.

Thomas and teammates Wes Welker and Julius Thomas are tied for the AFC lead in touchdown catches with nine. He also ranks fourth in the conference in both catches and receiving yards.

So I assume he gets wings?

He will score 4 TDs against the overrated Chiefs

Favre, manning, Brees, and Rodgers make these guys millionaires. It’s all the quarterback. If all the broncos starting receivers got hurt, manning would make the backups just as effective within a month. Look how inept the packers look without Rodgers.

It’s true, he won’t be anywhere near as good when Manning goes down.

If you recall, Thomas was tearing it up even when Tebow was the QB and the Broncos were passing only about 10 times per game.

When he plays KC, he’ll get pressed relentlessly. He struggles with physical corners.

When Denver plays KC, Thomas will do his best, Manning will do his best, and the rest of the Broncos will do their best. So, too, will the Chiefs. Hopefully, the Broncos’ best will be good enough to hand the Chiefs their first loss. But if it were a foregone conclusion, there’d be no reason to play the game. I’m waiting till Sunday to see what happens, but still hoping for a Broncos blowout.

If DT gets pressed by the chiefs, they’ll just get burned by someone else. Their receivers are like ants at a picnic.
