Justin Tucker named AFC special teams player of week

It might not have had the same drama as the Hail Mary that sent last week’s game into overtime, but Justin Tucker made the play to end it.

The Ravens kicker was named AFC special teams player of the week after hitting the game-winning field goal in overtime against the Bengals. That was a nervous time for the Ravens, after Bengals wideout A.J. Green caught a last-second heave to tie the game, after the Ravens squandered a 17-0 lead.

His kick, on a day that featured swirling winds, was his fifth-game winner in his two years in the league.

He’s hit 16 straight field goals, and is 18-of-20 on the year.

Tucker is a clutch kicker….cool under pressure, nothing fazes him under any circumstance even in his rookie year last season. Ozzie finally found our next Matt Stover. Congrats Justin :)

Good point, kickers are never Special Teams POW winners.

In 2000 the Ravens went multiple games without scoring a TD and had to rely on their kicker, Matt Stover, for wins before going to the Super Bowl. So, there is a history.

That award should have gone to either punter in that game.
