The Jaguars got their first win of the season last Sunday and they got another reason to celebrate their change in fortune on Wednesday.

Linebacker Paul Posluszny has been named the AFC defensive player of the week for the job he did helping the Jaguars clip the Titans 29-27 and improve their record to 1-8 on the year.

Posluszny had eight tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery during the contest. His play hasn’t gotten much notice this season because it is hard to lavish too much praise on an individual player while the team is sinking around him, but Posluszny has done a strong job for Jacksonville.

That makes it an even bigger blow if he winds up missing the Week 11 date with the Cardinals. Posluszny suffered a concussion against the Titans and his status for this week won’t be known until he passes through the league’s concussion protocol.
