Vernon Davis, Eric Reid cleared for non-contact work

The 49ers got some good news from a pair of injured players Wednesday, giving them a chance to play this week.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, both tight end Vernon Davis and safety Eric Reid were cleared for non-contact work after suffering concussions last week against the Panthers.

Both players will still have to be cleared by an independent neurologist, and have several steps to get through before that happens. But getting them back in the weight room is a good sign they could still play this week against the Saints.

Having both Reid and Davis on the field next Sunday is imperative. The Saints D is formidable and their offense is light years ahead of anything we’ve faced this season.

I was at the Stick on Sunday and while it was a crushing defeat leaving it for the last time with a loss I know how resilient this team is. The Niners have faced adversity for many years and having success of late has allowed us to forget that the road to Championships is not for the weak or timid. Time to regroup and reload.

    GO NINERS!!!!!

Davis has never been the same since Kam gave him a concussion by hitting him in the chest of all places. As far as Reid goes, it’s a bad sign when your rookie safety has two halfway through the season. Might be another high round bust, not because he isn’t skilled, but because he can’t take the punishment.

We Gita give Kap a clean pocket to work from this week. Pass protection woes aren’t getting enough publicity, but it is an issue. If we can’t protect early we need to do more 3 step drops and get the ball out. This game is gunna be a dog fight, GO NINERS.

huh? Have you watched him at all this season? He is very good! He provides the same type of physicality that Goldson did, but has the potential to be better in coverage! He was a great draft pick and will be a mainstay in the 49ers secondary for many years.

I’d say Davis was pretty much a bad ass in the playoffs last year. I think that was after the great hit he took.

Reid needs to be careful, that’s his second concussion already. Looked like he was knocked out cold this time. Get your head out of the way when tackling!
