Harry Douglas joins Tony Gonzalez on sideline

The Falcons were without tight end Tony Gonzalez again at practice on Thursday and he wasn’t the only important piece of the passing game on the sideline for the session.

Wide receiver Harry Douglas did not practice as a result of a knee injury. Douglas did not appear on the injury report at all on Wednesday, which indicates a new injury that is casting uncertainty on his ability to get on the field against the Buccaneers this weekend.

The team didn’t offer much of a clue about Douglas’ chances of playing, but coach Mike Smith did say that the team is holding out hope that Gonzalez is able to practice Friday and play on Sunday despite the toe injury that has kept him out of action the last two days.

If neither player can go, the Bucs’ chances of winning a second straight game will be looking a lot better. The Falcons will have Roddy White, who is still limited at practice, and a slew of inexperienced players around him in a game that will help determine who finishes last in the NFC South.
