Rumors fly of agents meeting with Manziel

Manziel AP

We’ve heard unconfirmed rumors that one or more agents have been communicating and actually meeting with Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.  Regardless of whether it is or isn’t happening, it’s now permissible under NFLPA rules.

Prior to March 2012, it wouldn’t have been allowed.  That month, the NFLPA dumped the so-called “junior rule,” which would have precluded agents from talking to Manziel during his third season after finishing high school.

Agents still can’t give Manziel or his family money or anything of value.

Well, they can.  As long as they don’t get caught.

The rumors, if true, confirm the reality that Manziel won’t return to Texas A&M in 2014.  Not that anyone actually believed he would.

As an A&M student, I believe there’s a 50/50 chance he’ll come back. Alabama is losing a lot of starters, the College Football Playoff starts next year, and he has a championship team in is hands. At least I’d chose that and put off going to a crappy NFL for one more year.

He stuck it to the NCAA! 1 Heisman equaling immortality, 1st round pick & cash while in school.

Manziel’s fmily has received $2 million in casino chips for a gambling house in Vegas completion date April, 2014. Good Luck!

If only there was some sort of organization that investigates this in an efficient and methodical manner and swiftly deals with it.

You know, something the like the exact opposite of the NCAA.

Great. Another over rated A&M QB can get picked way too high to be mediocre at best in the NFL. I just pray he goes to the Cowboys. Another in a long list of over rated players to go to Jerry’s team so ESPN can drool all over him. It’d give me more reason to hate them for another decade.

Can’t imagine too many NFL GM’s who are excited about Manziel both for on/off the field reasons.

This guy’s gonna be the biggest train wreck in the draft.

A couple of A&M fans posting on the college side after his last home game seemed to believe he might stay. Bless their hearts.

He better be careful. If he gets caught they might suspend him 45 minutes this time.

Maybe the redskins will trade up and draft him, they are in need of a franchise QB ya know….

Late-round talent, but someone Tebows him at the bottom of one.

Johnny does not have the mental toughness to make it in the NFL, I would not even entertain the thought of drafting this kid if I were a general manager/ owner.

NFL scouts will (if they haven’t already) do their homework on this guy and you can bet their advise to the top brass would be to pass on him, at least until the later rounds. But the top brass will huddle up and make the executive decision to draft him, anyway knowing he sells tickets. Perhaps, 4-5 years after his first contract is up he’ll be grown up enough to land as back-up QB to a team that has their starter go down for the season in week-4. Then “Johnny Football’ will have a ‘Come Back Player of the Year’ season that ends in a wild-card playoff defeat. The next year he’ll be named the starter (at a bargain price, of course) only to fall well-short of expectations as he proves he’s better cold off the bench than handling the ‘face of the franchise’ title.

    Just a theory.

since 1987, Heisman QB’s have one just 1 NFL playoff game and that was Tebow’s. just sayin

Pass. Not as in the act of throwing but as in taking a real player.

  19. theallegedone says: Nov 15, 2013 2:57 AM

    Tim Tebow 2.0

  20. wde2010 says: Nov 15, 2013 12:33 PM

Those who liken him to Tebow are wrong on one account. Tebow had and has class. Johnny is going to be a handful for whom ever chooses him. You think he was wild and uncontrollable in college? Wait till he get’s to the NFL. The team that choose him… Well, there going to have their hands full! God Speed. 😡🙏

Facts/numbers don’t lie. Good luck all you Longhorn fans posting here. Please keep Mack, we need another safety.

If Johnny were to be signed to the raiders he would out play Pryor and Mgloin for a starting spot and if his favorite WR  Evans somehow gets picked up it would be ugly for our competitors
