Jonathan Martin made his first statement since he became the most talked-about player in the NFL.
But it was not a long one.
“I do not intend to discuss this matter publicly at this time, . . .” Martin said, via Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports. “This is the right way to handle this matter.”
The Dolphins tackle met for more than seven hours league investigator Ted Wells in his New York office, emerging moments ago. Wells is heading the league’s investigation into reports of bullying by Martin’s teammate Richie Incognito.
Martin did not take any questions, making it a long and unproductive day for reporters staked out on the sidewalk. He did say he looked forward to “resuming my career in the National Football League.”
And while his relative silence on the matter isn’t surprising, it won’t make the weeks of speculation subside, while Wells investigates the Dolphins and their role in Incognito’s behavior.
