Dolphins promote center Sam Brenner from practice squad

Mike Pouncey

The Dolphins have signed center Sam Brenner from the practice squad, the club announced Saturday afternoon.

In a corresponding roster move, the Dolphins placed reserve tackle Will Yeatman on injured reserve. Yeatman has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. San Diego with a knee injury.

The addition of Brenner comes one day after starting center Mike Pouncey missed practice with an illness. Pouncey is listed as questionable on the injury report. However, James Walker of ESPN.com reported Saturday that Pouncey is anticipated to be available to play Sunday.

An undrafted rookie from Utah, the 23-year-old Brenner has been on the Dolphins’ practice squad since the beginning of the season.

Before signing Brenner, the Dolphins did not have a backup to Pouncey on their depth chart.
