Seahawks activate Russell Okung

If there’s been a weakness to the Seahawks this season, it’s been the injury-plagued offensive line. But those injury problems are clearing up.

Seattle left tackle Russell Okung, the best player on the Seahawks’ line, has been activated from injured reserve-designated for return. Okung has missed the last eight games with a toe injury.

Combine the return of Okung with the returns of right tackle Breno Giacomini, who has missed the last seven games with a knee injury, and center Max Unger, who missed last week with a concussion, and Seattle’s line should be at 100 percent on Sunday against the Vikings.

To make room on the roster for Okung, the Seahawks released third-string quarterback B.J. Daniels.

  1. Harvin, Okung and Giacomini won’t likely play full games. But they will get some good reps and get to hitting again. Bring on the Vikes and the bye week and get these gents ready to go full-on for Monday night in a few weeks.

  2. You just know that the Niners are going to try to get Daniels on their practice squad if he gets through waivers. Then they will cut Bethel-Thompson to make room for activating Crabtree.

    Paging Jags coach Gus Bradley……….

  4. Couldn’t ask for better timing.

Wasn’t thrilled seeing the Seahawks bye being so late when the schedule came out, but this is ideal.

Get some of these guys in against a game, at home, the *should* have no issue with, to get the rust off and back into game shape. Then, 8 days off, the entire team being well rested for another home game vs the Saints (NFC home field likely on the line), with SF the week after.

That’ll help put them over the top…along with the PEDs.

Hmm, I dunno, I thought charley’s post was original, witty, and very well-timed.

Oh wait…that’s an epic fail on MY part. Never mind.

  7. Gee, I’m so glad Schneider and Petey cut a very promising young LB (Lotuleli) just so they could add a 3rd string QB they didn’t need, never used and then cut.

    Genius.

  8. Its just hard to give the Seahawks respect..Its like watching pee wee herman holding up a toughman trophyjust doesnt seem right for one of the sorriest franchises in sports history to act like their some power house with a great fanbase..Looks like little brother finally made it to tue top..only took 35 years..

  9. These 49er fans just don’t get it, if your team loses (highly likely) in NO you will have to start wondering if you can even make the playoffs because there NFC teams with QBs far superior than one that passes 46 yards, kisses his biceps and cries all week in social media because people are talking about him being 32 ranked passer.

Oh yeah a few weeks Seattle comes Candlestick to blow it down like it was made of straws. 42-13, 29-3…..

  10. Hard to see Seahawks losing this weekend……It would be a huge upset and one that shouldn’t happen, if the Hawks don’t take Vikings lightly.

  11. norcalmafia…

It took the 9er’s 35 years to win their first Conference title…

It took Seattle 29 years to do that…

And yeah, the 9er’s won a lot of super bowls back before you were born, but not so much now…

Looks like you’ll be looking for another band wagon to jump on soon!

    Go Hawks!

You’ve got Seahawks in your head. Seriously, dude, you need help. Do you ever comment about your 49ers quest for for a super bowl? What do you call it? #questforsux? Keep dreaming.

  14. Can someone tell me what exactly the Seahawks have won? So there 9&1 but what have they won!! NOTHING!!!!

  15. It’s nice to get starters back, but both tackles have missed almost the whole season so far and Unger has missed more than half. Am I the only one nervous about how rusty they’ll be? The replacements were starting to put it together the past couple weeks. Seahawks should still win, but I don’t think Wilson’s in the clear just yet.
