After a brief Browns rally, the Bengals have added to their lead and hold a 41-20 edge late in the fourth quarter at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.
The Browns cut into the Bengals’ lead in the third quarter when quarterback Jason Campbell connected with wideout Josh Gordon on a 74-yard touchdown. This drew Cleveland to within 11 at 31-20. However, the Browns haven’t been able to build on that, and the Bengals have responded with 10 points since, including a field goal after Cleveland attempted a fourth-down play deep in its own territory and failed to convert. The other score came earlier in the fourth quarter, when quarterback Andy Dalton hit tight end Alex Smith for a one-yard TD.
Dalton has had a day only fantasy football players could love. He’s completed just 13-of-27 passes for 93 yards, and he’s been picked twice. However, he has three TD passes.
Indeed, it’s been an odd day of sorts for Cincinnati. But it looks like it will be a winning one for the first-place Bengals.
