Bills batter Geno Smith on way to 20-0 halftime lead

It’s windy in Buffalo on Sunday, which has had an impact on some of the passes thrown by Jets quarterback Geno Smith.

The Bills defense has had a bigger one. Smith has turned the ball over twice, been sacked three times and hit several others as the Bills have run out to a 20-0 halftime lead at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Jets have managed just 57 total yards on offense in a performance that has continued the team’s trend of following up strong performances with absolute clunkers.

Kyle Williams stripped Smith on a sack in the second quarter to set up a Frank Summers touchdown run and Jairus Byrd picked off the Jets rookie on the next drive to set up a Dan Carpenter field goal. Smith took a big lick from defensive tackle Marcell Dareus on the second of his three completions, which forced him out of the game for one play and gave a hint about how the half would go.

E.J. Manuel threw a 34-yard touchdown to T.J. Graham on a pass that got held up by the wind long enough for Graham to shake Dee Milliner and come up with the catch. Manuel is 11-of-14 for 114 yards overall, moving the ball well on a couple of drives despite the lack of much help in the run game. The touchdown came a couple of plays after Jets defensive tackle Leger Douzable jumped offside on a punt. The Bills decided to go after getting the five yards and Manuel got the yard on a sneak to make Douzable’s penalty really sting.
