Chiefs hanging around, Broncos lead 17-10 at halftime

The Chiefs defense is in an unfamiliar spot, but they caught a break just before halftime, and have kept things close with the Broncos.

The Chiefs hadn’t allowed more than 17 points in an entire game this season, but the Broncos were able to match that midway through the second quarter.

What happened after that one might be the series that haunts the Chiefs, however. A drive stalled deep in the red zone, and they settled for a short field goal after an impressive goal-line stand by the Broncos, cutting the gap to 17-10, when they were tantalizingly close to another touchdown.

But Broncos kicker Matt Prater missed his first field goal of the season from 52 yards, keeping the Broncos from padding that lead. Denver will get the ball first in the second half, getting a chance to put the Chiefs into uncharted territory.

The Chiefs should have called TO with 16 seconds left, but it took them 5 seconds to figure out what happened since they weren’t paying attention nor did they have anybody with strategy intelligence employed by the team.

Alex Smith is not exactly getting much help from his receivers.

Looks like the #1 offense is playing better than the # 1 defense so far

50 bucks says Manning demanded a flag on the wind Prater’s “missed field goal”

This just in: Jack Del Rio wants the NFL to look into suspect wind conditions in Denver.

@ bronconative: go look at natelan’s comments from the San Diego game last year. From a broncos fan, please don’t say anything until it’s for sure.

Denver’s rushing offense is total junk. Good luck with that in the playoffs.

    Pats777, you’re team is junk

Db3233, the last few times the Pats played Denver have been blow outs. I’m pretty sure Brady owns Manning in w/l’s as well. Not exactly sure I would refer to the Pats as junk.

It’s pretty clear to me that the Broncos are just the better team but I still think the Chiefs will win it when they play this battle at home.

Dwayne Bowe has got to have the worst hands in the NFL. The guy has dropped a ridiculous amount of passes this year…

Collinsworth is so horrible…. Doesn’t know the rules. Kept claiming that the chiefs should have got the yardage for the last play and attempted the kick at the end of the half from much closer. Even though declining the penalty means you don’t get an extra untimed play. What a clown.
