Fans asked to leave seats with storm expected at Soldier Field

With storms approaching the Chicago area, fans are being asked to leave the seating area at Soldier Field and to enter covered concourses inside the stadium, the Bears said on Twitter.

Heavy rains and strong winds have hit the Chicago area on Sunday. According to WBBM-TV, a heavy storm cell that has produced a tornado is slated to be tracking through Chicago at about 2:31 p.m. Eastern.

Cook County, which is where Soldier Field is located, is under a tornado warning through 2:30 p.m. Eastern.

According to the Bears, the request to move out of the seats was with safety in mind.

The game has been temporarily suspended with Baltimore leading 10-0 in the first quarter, the Bears said.

According to the Bears, players will return to the field no sooner than 3 p.m. Eastern.
