Frustration shows for Schaub, Johnson at end of latest Texans loss

Losing eight straight games has a way of bringing frustrations to the surface and that’s what happened at the end of the Texans’ Sunday loss to the Raiders.

Quarterback Matt Schaub was caught by cameras saying something to wide receiver Andre Johnson after the two men came off the field following the Texans’ failed attempt to convert on fourth down at the end of the fourth quarter. Johnson says something back to Schaub and then retreated to the locker room before the final whistle after others on the Texans sideline stepped between them.

It’s relatively mild stuff. Coach Gary Kubiak said after the game that he wasn’t bothered by the spat and Schaub also downplayed it as the “emotions of the game,” but it’s still another bad look in a season filled with them for the Texans.

Kubiak said he made the change to Schaub from Case Keenum because he made changes to the game plan that would have been difficult for Keenum to handle. It sounds a lot like making a change for the sake of making a change after watching Schaub lead an offense that wasn’t doing anything much more exciting than Keenum was doing. That’s a frustrating place to find yourself as a team and it became impossible to hide on Sunday afternoon.
