Kyle Williams: No Dave and Busters for the Bills

6e2ef18ff6b3144bb45e2a288cf2822c AP

The Jets decided to go to Dave and Busters for some fun on Saturday night rather than have their normal offensive and defensive meetings before Sunday’s game against the Bills.

Judging by the easy 37-14 Buffalo win, it may not have been the wisest choice in terms of preparation or in terms of inspiration for the Bills. Center Eric Wood said that “not much” was said about the Jets’ field trip before the game because nothing needed to be said about something so in your face. Defensive tackle Kyle Williams said that the team would find somewhere else to celebrate the victory.

“I think we’ll stay off of Dave and Busters. It didn’t work out very well for the other team that had a party there,” Williams said, via Kimberly Jones of NFL Network.

Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports coach Doug Marrone said he heard the report but didn’t say anything to the team about it. It doesn’t seem like there was much need to point it out and the Bills certainly struck a blow for staying in on Saturday night with their Sunday afternoon performance.

You are coming off a bye week that’s your relax time not the night before a game in the other teams city. Just makes no sense this isn’t training camp when you need to break up the monotony they just got back from vacation.

I thought it was a classy move by the Jets to spend the night before a big game visiting D&B. Last year’s backup QB is working as a fry cook there, so it probably meant a lot to him to see familiar faces.

(It’s a Tebow joke, you see.)

Free popcorn and hours spent playing Buck Hunter and/or Golden Tee is no way to prepare for a football game…

Can we please stop acting like Dave and Busters had anything to do with this? The Jets getting romped on the road is nothing new. Pitt Cinci and Tennessee all did the same thing to the Jets when they were in town.

Not to mention if any team other than the Jets had gone to Dave and Busters and then lost it wouldn’t be a story. The only reason it is a story is because of the continued unexplicable love affair with discussing every detail of the Jets existence. When will this stop?

I love it – the Jets do something stupid and their fans quickly claim that the media is out to get them. NY teams (and Dallas) crave media attention. The Jets have not been relevant since SuperBowl 3. Enjoy getting some attention as you continue to let Rex, and your idiot owner, run the team into the ground.

Eh, lost a few draft positions, but I still like watching the Bills win.

Beating Geno and the Jets is just icing. I think EJ was the better pick.

Edawg, I hate the Jets. Im not saying the media is out to get them. Im saying the Jets are a pitiful road team and would have performed the same regardless of if they went to Dave & Busters or if they were in bed at 8pm.

My point is that the media is making excuses for the Jets performnce, quite the opposite of the media being out to get them. The media loves covering the Jets every move and I can’t understand why for the life of me.

I disagree yanksbills, screw draft position. Everything tastes, looks and smells better when your team wins.

Should’ve learned a lesson from Steve McNair. Dave & Buster’s is no place for a professional football player.

Give it a rest, the jets would have lost anyway, ppl make a big deal bc it’s Rex..bottom line ppl in nfl rip Rex who gas 5 wins w/very very very limited talent, while w/out Rogers McCarthy can’t win a single gm

Great to see a 4-7 team that has lost 9 of the last 12 to the Jets and hasn’t sniffed the playoffs in a decade is prepped and ready to talk trash.

A midseason victory against a 5-4 is the new Super Bowl for Buffalo. Wow. Well at least they won for once.

Really? You don’t see why? Let me give you a little hint. It rhymes with Schmex Schmyan. Mr. Schmyan won’t keep his trap shut in the largest media market in the country.

Mystery solved, and I didn’t even have to think that hard.

Who’s talking trash? What fans aren’t happy when their team delivers a blow out win? It’s been a good week for Buffalo fans… a new regime for the Sabres and a big win for the Bills. Lighten up man.

    @jr507

aaaand that team just curb stomped you. It’s never a good look to point those kinds of things out when you just lost to them. I mean, REALLY got your butt handed to you. In every phase of the game. Just totally whooped.

Should of called up McGahee when planning your evening. Maybe the 2 for $20 at Applebee’s would have worked out better for you.

  18. hankdatruthtella says: Nov 18, 2013 7:01 AM

jr507 the Bills lead the all time series 55-50 sir, and since you want to use historical facts, the Bills have won 2 out of the last 3 against the Jets….but I do understand your frustration with Bills fans being happy the Bills won (pretty much like any fan of any team would be including the Jets) because it is pretty apparent who the better team is moving forward and who drafted the better QB.

  19. keepyerstickontheice says: Nov 18, 2013 8:43 AM

Since we’re getting into the way way back machine, let’s just say the Bills won the last 56 of 107 games against the Jets.

When you’re watching the wheels fall off the clown car, there’s really not much to talk about.

btw, you left a roll of tickets at D&B’s…

In what way is what Kyle Williams said, or any of the posts on this article’s thread “trash talk” and acting like the Bills won the superbowl? Williams was asked a question and he answered. The ‘trash talk’ is towards the coverage of the story- not specifically the Bills and Jets game. No one is saying the Bills won the superbowl. Im pretty sure most Bills fans view this as a game they should have been able to win, not an upset.

Typical NY sports fan, their team does well they want credit. Their team does poorly, they need to find an excuse to downplay it. Bills won, Jets lost, neither team is a playoff caliber team right now. Period.

  21. yanksbills says: Nov 18, 2013 12:02 PM

    Morning after…

The Bills still won, right? Just want to make sure that yesterday’s defensive dominance really happened. Just hope Byrd is starting to realize he’s on one of the most powerful NFL defenses and won’t skip town in January.
