Lions’ epic second quarter: Stafford 267 yards, Johnson 163 yards

If I told you that Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had 267 yards and receiver Calvin Johnson had 163 yards, you’d say it sounds like they had a pretty good game.

Now how about if I tell you that’s what they did just in the second quarter today in Pittsburgh?

Indeed, those were the second quarter totals of Stafford and Megatron, who shredded Pittsburgh’s secondary. At the start of the second quarter, the Steelers had a 14-0 lead. By halftime, the Lions were up 27-20.

It’s still a close game, and Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and receiver Antonio Brown are having good games, too. With the way the Lions’ secondary is playing, this game is far from a sure thing for Detroit.

Which means Stafford will probably be throwing quite a bit to Johnson in the second half as well.

  1. And there only up 7……before the awards are given, wait til the game is over. Ask Georgia about that!

  2. Offensive PI never gets called against the Steelers.

The NFL has made clear that they don’t want us in the league anymore, and we can’t wait to leave. Who do you think is fueling these stories about Ben?

Nevertheless, we have unfinished business. Just one more Lombardi and we’ll start the SFL.

And we march. 10-2 run continues.

  3. LOL the Fox station in Rhode Island just pulled the Washington-Eagles game in favor of this one because the Washington team is getting slaughtered and they want to show something “a little more competitive”.

Washington looks awful and RGMe looks like a division 3 college QB.

  4. The steelers have played like weak, little girls ever since dr. rydze was investigated and indicted by federal authorities for illegal distribution of growth hormone and anabolic steroids.

  5. The Steelers aren’t God’s team.

    The Steelers are hilarious.

I think I saw those uniforms in a Three Stooges episode.

They look like the Bumblebee Guy from the Simpsons; and they play football only slightly better.

  6. so where are the headlines about RG3-6’s epic performance today against the eagles? wow he looks incredible, so incredible they switched games on the network. if the redskins were up 24-0, they wouldve never switched the game, if BOB was having a good game, every headline on this website and TV would be about the great unstoppable BOB, epically funny stuff

  7. I would love to be watching this game and the Lions push to the playoffs. Instead I’m being forcefed the Eagles sodomization of the Redskins.

And the Skins have just scored…okay….24-7. Still not compelling.

Wow that burning stench of human flesh you smell is the Steeler’s secondary.

As opposed to every other secondary they have played this year.

Yet ignorant fans continue to think Stafford is not a good quarterback.

“I would love to be watching this game and the Lions push to the playoffs…”

    They didn’t push hard enough.

“Are those both records for one quarter?”

Doesn’t matter if you lose the game.
