Manning makes plays, Smith responds, Broncos up 10-7

After a sluggish start, the Chiefs and Broncos are beginning to play like teams with a loss between them.

Peyton Manning hit a pair of big passes to his reliable targets, a 70-yarder to DeMaryius Thomas which set up a touchdown pass to Julius Thomas.

But Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith responded with a patient, 11-play drive, hitting Dwayne Bowe for a touchdown pass to cut the Broncos lead to 10-7 early in the second quarter.

The Chiefs took a hit on defense, losing defensive end Mike DeVito to a left knee injury. But otherwise, they’ve weathered the early storm in Denver, and responded offensively when they needed a play. It was the first offensive touchdown in seven quarters, and it came just in time.

Peyton Manning gameplan: Pass to whoever Marcus Cooper is covering even if the other receiver is wide open

The refs seem to be a little Denver leaning today.

Why do people immediately go the ref route excuse? The Chiefs are the new Texans, if you get them down 2 possessions with a competent QB they won’t be able to come back. Look at the QBs they’ve faced this season.

It’s not 100% refs but Thomas really seemed to push off on that long gain.

Seems like Thomas pushed off quite a bit on that long gain. I normally don’t think refs make a diff but this one seems off.

But Bowe didn’t push off on his touchdown? Seems equal if they let it go both ways.

You’re kidding right? Chiefs are getting all the calls. Pushed off on td catch and on both scoring drives got questionable calls on third. But you guys are crying about an arm bar… Which is legal. Lmao.

Fair enough. I will let my dislike for the forehead cloud my judgement for the refs. I will go back to pulling for the Chiefs now.

Not seeing a lot of sacks on Manning…

I might get a root canal next Sunday. That would be a less painful Sunday than watching the Vikings-Packers game.
