Report: Da’Quan Bowers out Sunday with a concussion

The Buccaneers kept hope that defensive end Da’Quan Bowers would be in the lineup alive on Friday when they listed him as questionable, but it doesn’t look like he’s been able to clear the final hurdle that would allow him to play after suffering a concussion last week.

Peter Schrager of FOXSports.com reports that Bowers will miss Sunday’s game against the Falcons. Bowers notched his first half-sack of the season against the Dolphins last Monday night as the Buccaneers were victorious for the first time this season.

William Gholston will likely see the snaps that were going to Bowers as the Bucs try to make it two in a row against Atlanta. The Falcons line has struggled this season so there should be opportunities for Gholston and the other healthy Tampa defensive linemen to make plays.

If they do, they may have a shot at making more in the future. Bowers, a second-round pick in 2011, hasn’t impressed as a pass rushing specialist this year and may be running out of chances to impress in Tampa.
