Sean Payton: Jabari Greer suffered “significant injury”

It doesn’t sound like the Saints expect to have cornerback Jabari Greer back on the field any time soon.

Greer was carted off the field during Sunday’s victory over the 49ers and coach Sean Payton’s update on his condition on Monday was not an optimistic one. Payton said, via WWL-TV, that he’d have more information about Greer’s injury on Tuesday, but called it “significant” and said that Greer was doing “as well as you could expect” in terms of dealing with the injury.

That doesn’t come as much surprise after watching the way Greer’s leg bent as he landed awkwardly while defending a pass in the first quarter of the game. Based on the way it looked and the way Payton sounded on Monday, the next shoe to drop may be Greer’s move to injured reserve.

Greer has started every game for the Saints this season and has picked up one interception and 12 pass breakups over those 10 contests. Corey White replaced Greer against the 49ers and the 2012 fifth-round pick will likely get the call over the final six weeks as the Saints move forward without Greer.

The Saints 2009 Super Bowl win has an asterisk on it

No players were injured by the Saints under Greg Williams and that asterisk is in your own mind, not anyone else’s.

Looks like Nnamdi Asomugha could be coming to town to back up White.

What an ignorant comment about our players getting hurt. Must not watch football on a regular basis. LOL.

Please name every player knocked out of a game against the Saints during the supposed “bountygate” years. We’ll all be waiting here with bated breath.

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT ONE!! Nnamdi IS DONE, BURNT, OVER!! He’s not even worth a roster spot at this point, and it’s obvious~!

He’s currently on the street, where he needs to stay, and enjoy his hot ARSE wife and the 60 million he STOLE fr the EAGLES!

That injury was awful, I hope he gets better soon.

Also, what was the deal with FOX showing the replay of his knee bending the wrong way like 7 times?

Are Saints fans whining about people making light of their injuries? This after all the Saints people were gloating about the Falcons injuries (Julio Jones, Weatherspoon to name two) a few weeks back. Saints fans truly are the worst, most ignorant in the NFL.

If you go by the stupid karma logic then I guess you can add the Bears, Browns, Packers, Falcons, Broncos, 49ers, Rams, Colts, Titans, Eagles, Raiders, Bills, Cowboys, Texans…do I need to go on?
All those teams lost significant players to injury.
See how stupid the karma argument is?

The New Orleans Saints = 2009 SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS
    They’re also currently 8-2 LOL!

The Minnesota Vikings = 0 Superbowl Championships
    They’re also currently 2-8 LOL!

Just can’t believe the S-T-U-P-I-D-I-T-Y of some people. Taking about bounty gate as a comparison to injury; or the go-no-where-falcons and the remark of N.O. fans. You people are the exact reason this country is in the shape it is in – no logic nor common sense. A bunch of hapless wa-wa babies always crying about something. Here’s a quarter – go call somebody that cares about what you print or think.
Call 1-900-Waa-Waa. Losers from the word go.

It’s a shame for Greer. He’s likely done in The Big Easy. Great player.

For those complaining about “bountygate”…..all teams did this, most have come out and admitted it.
The people that like to whine about it constantly are soft….go watch gymnastics or something.

You can definitely tell by the comments that the Saints are back and doing something right and relevant this year, lol

  18. shatho1 says: Nov 18, 2013 4:16 PM

karma has nothing to do with it all teams have had injuries cowboys especially on defense. I’m a cowboys fan and even if we would have had a healthy defense we probably would of lost that game but not as bad. but to say karma bcuz of bounty gate is pure stupidity

  19. doubleogator says: Nov 18, 2013 4:41 PM

Wow, Karma made Greer’s injury happen, the Saints Super Bowl win has an asterisk by it, and the saints fans are the worst most ignorant fans in the NFL, all this was written by highly intelligent well respected people too,not really……

  20. sticktaylor says: Nov 18, 2013 6:44 PM

Greer being out really hurts our Defense which has turned into One of the Best in the League. He was one of the most underrated players in the NFL, but bring in Nnami. Nnami Best Years in the League where playing in Rob Ryan’s Defense & if he was to come to NOLA then he would be that Complete Shutdown Cornerback that he used to be & our chances of getting to the Superbowl will remain High!

jon baldwin suffered “significant” pass interference on that play.

  22. seaeagle707 says: Nov 18, 2013 10:49 PM

Why do people who support other teams feel it is alright to make fun of players on rival teams getting hurt, or find humor in such a situation? When RGIII went down during our playoff game with the Skins I felt momentarily sick, watching his leg. If I’d seen Greer go down I’d probably react in much the same way. Sure the Saints are an opposing team, but players, hyperbole removed, are just human. Saints players bleed the same as ours and hurt the same as ours. Show some humanity, some civility. NFL stadia are not the Roman Coliseum.

I’m not a saints fan…but I still hate to see injuries on any team. And this one was not good. Even within my team’s division I don’t want to see it. I agree with @seaeagle707 100%

  24. tv426 says: Nov 19, 2013 7:54 AM

Greer has been a truly solid CB for many years (in BUF and NO). Not much press about him as he is a good dude and a good player.

I wish him well in his recovery as I think he has some major damage to his leg.

  25. genericuser8888 says: Nov 20, 2013 1:17 AM

Yea, at 8-2, “Karma” is really tearing up those Saints.

As a Saints fan, the only “Karma” I want to see is Roger Goodell handing over the Lombardi to Payton this year. He basically robbed our team of a headcoach for a year for a “bounty program” that no one got injured in.
