Broncos fill out secondary by signing Michael Huff

Faced with some injuries at safety, the Broncos found a former top-10 pick to fill in.

According to Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com, the Broncos are signing former Raiders and Ravens safety Michael Huff.

Huff was released by the Ravens in October, after starting just one game. The 30-year-old didn’t make the kind of impact the Ravens were hoping when they signed him this offseason, and he’s been making the workout rounds in recent weeks.

The Broncos were thin at the position after losing safety Rahim Moore for several weeks with a leg injury suffered Sunday against the Chiefs.

    Great signing. Elway strikes again.

This signing should aid in the Bronco’s dissection of the Patriots this Sunday night.

Has he larned how to tackle? With the fish bowl around Rhodes I get it….but Nakamura would have been my guy.

    Seriously? That’s a comical statement

He isn’t that good, but neither was R.Moore. Where is Quiton Carter?
Seriously, get well soon R.Moore. Crazy injury.

The Patriots put up over 400 yards on the Panthers supposed best D.

Denver’s D sucks a$$, Huff sucks a$$ that’s why the Ravens cut him.

Look for Brady to continue what he has done to the Denver D the last 3 times they have played.

Doesn’t mean he’s starting. Mike Adams is a pretty good veteran, I would expect him to start. It wouldn’t surprise me if they started David Bruton because his size and speed, and his ability to tackle…

“He isn’t that good, but neither was R.Moore.” False- I don’t know where you base your opinion. Rahim graded out very well last year, and his play this year according to PFF. Of course, everyone will only remember the botched hail mary coverage.

  10. oakfolk says: Nov 19, 2013 3:31 PM

Did the Broncos not remember what they did to Huff in week 1 as a Raven and years prior as a Raider??

  11. oakfolk says: Nov 19, 2013 3:32 PM

Huff is a CB, not a safety. This will be the 3rd team to find out the hard way. Huff = the Matt Flynn of DBs.

When Huff needs to take the field they’d be better off just using 10 guys.

Joe Flacco owes Rahim Moore a boatload of cash.

LOL now this is quality depth

  16. sbchampsagain says: Nov 19, 2013 3:47 PM

    Great Elway signing.

I’m absolutely positive Huff can whiff at an easily intercepable ball just as well, if not better than, Rahim Moore.

@flash1235… Cause if Brady loses on Sunday he will run off the field again cryin like the big baby he is.. Wwwwwaaaaaaahhhhhh! What a great sportsman…

  18. champgiff says: Nov 19, 2013 4:20 PM

Clearly they’re signing Huff for depth. Anyone that watches the Broncos on a regular basis knows that Mike Adams is the natural replacement for Moore.

In my opinion, losing Moore is another hurdle for this team to overcome….he has played much better this season than the casual fan will give him credit for.

We should just start kayvon at safety

  20. somethingsmellsrotten says: Nov 19, 2013 5:27 PM

Hahahaha! Oh my, please start this guy. You will see TE’s wide open and missed tackles all over the field…just in time for Christmas. :)

  21. mcc0902 says: Nov 19, 2013 5:29 PM

Great signing. Not a great starter, but a good veteran that can contribute with good coaching, in certain packages. The talent is obviously there.

  22. mcc0902 says: Nov 19, 2013 5:31 PM

Rahim is solid. But thats it. and I believe Mike adams is solid too. So not much of a downgrade.

  23. mcc0902 says: Nov 19, 2013 5:39 PM

    Champ to safety???

  24. ragingmouse says: Nov 19, 2013 6:40 PM

There’s Reason why the mediocre cowboys sign him…

    Enough said.

  25. ragingmouse says: Nov 19, 2013 6:41 PM

    Didn’t sign him

  26. drewzducks says: Nov 19, 2013 9:40 PM

Only thing likable about this news is the fact that he’s Tebowing in his photo.

  27. joetoronto says: Nov 20, 2013 4:58 AM

    “Great signing”, LOL!

Ya, he’s so great that nobody wants him.

    SMH.

  28. bizieman says: Nov 20, 2013 8:48 AM

Why doesn’t Champ Bailey be a leader and step up and play Safety? He can’t hold no WR’s.

  29. jasonculhane says: Nov 20, 2013 4:54 PM

Isn’t Jammer filling in for Moore? I think this was just for depth, if that’s the case it is a good signing.
