Melvin Ingram to practice on Wednesday

The Chargers have lost several pass rushing options this season, but they could get one back in the next three weeks.

The team announced Tuesday that Melvin Ingram will practice on Wednesday. Ingram tore the ACL in his left knee in May and was placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of training camp. The team will have until December 10 to decide whether to add the linebacker to the active roster or place him on injured reserve.

It would be a fast, though not unprecedented, turnaround from a torn ACL, but they have the option so they might as well see if there’s any chance he can contribute this season. With three games between now and the deadline to make a call, the Chargers have three games and those results could make a difference in a final decision as well.

The Chargers have already lost linebackers Dwight Freeney, signed just after Ingram was injured, and Larry English for the season.

He may be back but not at 100% for some time. He’ll be ready to go in 2014.

This season is already a bust due to all these injuries. Let the guy stay on the sideline till next year.

We have enough injuries already, time to get real and focus on the future.

It’ll be good for the coaching staff to see where he’s at in his recovery before the off season; even if he is never able to get on the active roster on game day, having him back on the practice field will be good for the staff.

The season is lost yet you’re going to risk your best player getting another serious injury for nothing?….. that’s the chargers for ya

Don’t disagree that they should give him all the time he needs to get back to 100%, but the season is far from lost. Last I checked a 5-5 team was the 2nd wildcard spot. It’s a tall task with the remaining schedule, but the Bolts still have a punchers chance. If this guy thinks he can make it back and have an impact the last 3 games without risking re-injuring his ACL, by all means put him out there.
