Patriots expected to be without Dennard vs. Broncos

The Patriots are banged up in the secondary at the wrong time.

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, cornerback Alfonzo Dennard is not expected to play this week against the Broncos, and his absence could go beyond that.

Dennard turned up on the injury report last Saturday, and didn’t play last night against the Panthers.

The Patriots got Aqib Talib back in time to fight with Steve Smith last night, after he had missed three games with a hip injury. But he was struggling late, apparently aggravating it. Cornerback Kyle Arrington also aggravated a groin injury, and they’re still without safety Steve Gregory (broken thumb).

That’s not the situation you need when going against the league’s top offense, which is operating at record levels.

On top of Brady’s injured hand, this should be a good game. Both teams a battling major injuries so everything should balance out.

What Major Injuries have the Broncos suffered. You
havent lost three of your best players for the year. your gonna destroy the Patriots secondary who are going to be without 3 starters.

Wow, the Patriot defense has been gutted with injuries while the Broncos are at full strength. Should be an easy win for the Broncos. Anything less will be an abysmal failure.

Seriously? Welker may be out due to a concussion, and Peyton can barely walk… Nevermind, as I’m certain you were just kidding.

Peyton & Welker pay-back time against Belicheck.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Broncs beat them by 30.

It will be a shoot out. Denver’s D isn’t anywhere near as good as the Panthers. And even though NE lost the game they played pretty good they put up over 400 yards. Brady will continue to do what he’s done vs the Denver D the last 3 times they have played.

Plus it’s forecasted to be around 20 degrees and we all know how well Mega Head aka captain choke aka most 1 and done QB in playoff history does in cold weather.

Patriots are always lucky, easy schedule easy division……

alexistexas…Welker was an underused afterthought in the vaunted Dolphins offense and primarily a kr/pr before the genius saved him from that sinking ship, paired him with the G.O.A.T. and made him a rich man. I fully expect Wes to walk up to Bill, get down on his knees and kiss his feet.

Someone tell me, is Aqib Talib still holding on to Steve Smith’s leg?

  11. sullijo1 says: Nov 19, 2013 4:29 PM

The Patriots could have 1/2 their team and still be better than the Chiefs…..

The Broncos need to be ready.

    Welker has a concussion
    Julius Thomas has knee injury
    Manning has high ankle sprain

… Yeah Broncos have had ZERO injuries

I expect this game to be just as hard fought as the Panthers. Belichick knows how to game plan a defense to frustrate Manning. Even without the injured players the D is generally playing well.

It wasn’t the New England defense that lost the game last night, it was the offense.

… Yeah Broncos have had ZERO injuries

….obviously no, but not on the same level as NE has suffered.

Pro Bowl tackle Ryan Clady on IR: All-Pro T Sebastian Vollmer on IR
Pro Bowl CB Champ Bailey has played half a game: Pro-Bowl CB Aqib Talib has played half the season, plus Dennard, plus Arrington are also hurt and going to miss/be hobbled on Sunday.
Pro Bowl LB Von Miller missed 6 games: Suspension is not an injury, he came back 100% the day he was eligible. As opposed to All-Pro LB Jerod Mayo who is on IR
Starting S Rahim Moore on IR
Lost 2 starting centers: NE lost both starting DTs to IR, including Pro Bowler Tommy Kelly and All-World Vince Wilfork
Welker has a concussion: Danny Amendola had a concussion, and is still playing through a completely torn groin.
Julius Thomas has knee injury: Michael Hoomanawanui has a knee injury…oh amd Gronk is a walking injury.
Manning has high ankle sprain: Brady has a smashed hand and shoulder

So while Denver has has injuries, you can make the same “excuses” for New England. It still doesn’t matter, but you can’t say that the injury issues have been equal here.

Big PATS fan but I see a rare blowout coming up Sunday. Once the Broncos get the lead early, they will pile up points until midway thru the 3rd qtr. Mallet will play the 4th qtr and possibly even finish up the 3rd. BB will pull the plug early realizing the writing is already on the wall…they are going to have to beat the Broncos on the road come January. Denver 44 NE 16

I disagree, those Cam Newton runs for 1st downs were killers. I expect Bill to have a linebacker responsible for that, but I don’t think he has the personnel right now to do it.

I’m afrain Peyton will shred this makeshift secondary, Talib obviously isn’t right yet and with no Dennard we can assume Arrington will get beat badly on at least 2 or 3 plays.

    Earthwind Moreland available?

Talib acted as though he suffered a head injury and thought he was playing for the Bucs again. It was an idiotic and childish display he put on. The only pass he deflected was underthrown. Steve Smith baited him and he bit. Now he will probably sit out again. This player has a poor work ethic and is not prepared to play for a team where the team comes first. Mc Daniels call on the 3rd and 1 cost the game.

    First Denver’s D isn’t that good.
If Brady and the O can put up over 400 yards on the Panthrs D he will pick this one apart. This is still pretty much the same D he killed last season. Patriots win a shoutout.
