Percy Harvin expected to be full speed after bye week

Percy Harvin was on the field for 21 plays during his debut appearance with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

He caught just one pass for 17 yards and got one kickoff return opportunity that he broke for a 58-yard gain, but the Seahawks weren’t going to load him up with too much during his first game in over a year.

That’s expected to change when the Seahawks return from their bye week.

“When we come back, if everything goes like we hope, then he’ll be right back in the mix and he’ll be in normal rotation and returning kicks and the whole thing,” head coach Pete Carroll said Monday.

Carroll said Harvin was understandably a bit sore after his first football game since Nov. 4, 2012. Carroll hadn’t planned on using Harvin on kickoff returns against the Minnesota Vikings but Seattle lost Jermaine Kearse, their starting kick returner, to a concussion in the first quarter and Harvin began to plead for an opportunity. Carroll finally relented and Harivn rewarded him with the big return to setup a touchdown drive to end the first half.

The job will be his when Seattle gets back to prepare for the New Orleans Saints next week.

Carroll said the offense won’t change to accommodate Harvin’s return. They plan to just fit him into their offense and have him be a part of what they do.

“We don’t have to hold back and count plays and stuff like that. He’ll play a regular amount as we go. He won’t play every play; we’re going to still rotate our guys. We’re not changing the offense,” Carroll said. “I told Percy that the first night I talked to him. I told him we’re not going to change because you’re coming to our team, we’re just going to add you in and hope you can be a factor to help us, which he’s going to be.”

After further review, the runner did not touch 2nd base. Touchdown Celtics.

9/24/12 Packers fan never forgive, never forget.

Percy Harvin already made an impact in under 20 snaps. Even the play where Baldwin caught his TD in the end zone with number 11 on the field teams have to account for him.

Wilson said in his press conference that he felt the defense focusing on Harvin. The one knock I have against Pete is they don’t utilize their offensive personnel the way other explosive teams do. Guys like Tate, Baldwin or Miller can start feeling it and they stick to the game plan of running into loaded 8 man boxes.

The reason I say this is if Pete Carroll was going to treat Percy Harvin like just another guy, there would have been no reason to pay him 11/12 million dollars a year. He is maybe an overall top 5 player in NFL, a creative coach with a QB of Russell level could do a million different things with a player like that. Bevell has done it with him before.

    Lord have Percy.

It’s a good approach, not relying on him, but rather simply adding him to the already deadly offense. With the O-Line also back, it’s hard to imagine the NFC playoffs not going through Seattle.

Good luck tackling Lynch, Tate, Wilson, and Harvin. Pick your poison. That is the most elusive and difficult group of guys to bring down on any team in the league.

Lynch and the running game are the foundation and persona of the Seahawks. They physically beat people up. Teams get tired and surprise…it’s another Russell Wilson comeback! Harvin is going to make big plays, but I think it’s a mistake to cater the offense to him. He’ll get enough explosive plays when Wilson goes play action.

    10-1…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

I just listened to Pete Carroll show with Brock & Danny and what he is saying isn’t the same as the quote that the writer pulled here.

Pete is saying they haven’t scratched the surface for what they are going to do with Percy Harvin.

I understand what my fellow Hawk fans are saying. I am not trying to say we show switch to a pass first team but my point was when you have a weapon like Percy Harvin you have to find ways to use him.

Seahawks need to worry more about the Panthers. I think the Panthers can beat them.

If the Broncos, Patriots, or Colts go to the superbowl. I can guarantee the Seahawks will not win the Superbowl! You just need a great quarterback that knows how to read good defenses like Manning, Brady, or Luck.

Says a guy who also said Kaep was one of the top 3 or 4 QBs in the league after the GB game.

    Credibility?

    Uhhh. No.
