Falcons work out a pair of veteran quarterbacks

The Falcons are carrying just two quarterbacks at the moment, and since one of them’s hurt, they’re looking for help.

With backup Dominique Davis limited in practice yesterday with a knee injury, the Falcons worked out veteran quarterbacks Trent Edwards and Mike Kafka, via multiple reports which PFT has confirmed.

Per a league source, the quarterbacks were joined by receivers Dominique Croom and Brandon Kaufman.

Davis had to leave Sunday’s blowout loss to the Buccaneers with the injury, meaning starter Matt Ryan had to go back in, since they had no other choices. The Falcons are carrying Seth Doege on the practice squad which is fine to get them through the week, but they’d need to make a roster move if Davis isn’t able to go Thursday night against the Saints.

Edwards and Kafka have at least been around long enough that they could capably execute professional plays in a short time, and the Falcons might need just that.

The Falcons have so many injuries and so little depth that even I am expecting to get a call from them, and I’m not even a Falcons fan.

Seeing Trent Edwards metamorphosis to “Captain Checkdown” first hand…. I think Kafka may be the better call.

Wait, since when can Trent Edwards “capably execute professional plays”?

At this point, does it really matter? Whoever will hand off the ball for the least amount of money should be hired.

On a side note, Dominique Davis is horrible. I’d much rather have Kafka or Edwards as a back up.

It’s amazing how far & fast the Falcons have fallen. I feel bad for Tony Gonzalez.

Will they plummet far enough to be able to draft Clowney?

It doesn’t matter who’s the QB for the Failcants, they still and will always suck forever. Like this Thursday when they lose to the Great, Amazing,
Phenomenal New Orleans Saints and go to 2-9. And then the season is basically over.

Kaufman could be a legit add for any NFL team. He’s got a great size/speed combo and tore up FCS football.
