The Titans won’t get any more help from wide receiver Kevin Walter over the final six weeks of the season than they got over the first 11 weeks.
Coach Mike Munchak announced Tuesday that Walter won’t be activated from the physically unable to perform list. Walter was placed on the PUP list at the start of camp after having back surgery and he hasn’t recovered enough to contribute on the field.
“We expected him to come in and really help us,” Munchak said, via Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “He was just a great fit for us. But it’s disappointing for him and us. He just never came back from the surgery. I know he’s upset. It’s a shame because he could have been a help to us this year.”
Walter had been a very durable player until this season, missing just eight games over his first 10 seasons and just three after his rookie year. He signed a one-year deal with the Titans heading into the season, so the veteran will be looking for work if he’s healthy enough to resume his career during the offseason.
