Report: Manning’s pizza store robbed during Chiefs-Broncos game

Who says smoking pot makes folks mellow?

In Colorado, where Peyton Manning’s decision to purchase a bunch of Papa John’s restaurants became even more brilliant after marijuana was legalized, there’s a downside to owning a business at a time when everyone is paying attention to the exploits of the local NFL team:  It can get robbed.

According to TMZ, bandits hit one of Manning’s pizza joints during Sunday night’s win over the Chiefs.  CBS Sports has confirmed the report with police, explaining that the robbers raided the cash register.

Though Peyton won’t miss the money, we’ve got a feeling he’ll be motivated to find the perpetrators — and to ensure that they’re brought to justice.  Perhaps by ordering them into a porta potty for 20 minutes.

Manning is hoping they’re caught and tried soon.

Because if it happens in January, Manning knows there’s a good change it’ll be lost.

Good thing it was during a game and not when Peyton might have been there flipping dough or mopping the floor.

Register probably had less than $75 cash. Rest would be in a timed in-store safe…at least, if it had the same security most fast-food places had 20 years ago.

Not exactly The Great Train Robbery or The Lufthansa Heist here. Plus, video security systems are dirt cheap and they probably have several camera angles to provide to local cops.

Desperate and stupid is a really bad combination of attributes. And they probably weren’t potheads, more likely looking for a white powder of one sort or another.

They probably drove away in a getaway car stolen from one of Elway’s car lots too.

  13. jayniner says: Nov 20, 2013 1:36 PM

I guarantee they didn’t steal any pizza either….

Papa John’s Pizza is that bad!

What a Shame. Had this happened a week after a home playoff game where the weather is oh..say…50 or below there would have been a lot more eyeballs around being as they wouldn’t be too busy that day.

  20. 303bengalguy says: Nov 20, 2013 2:05 PM

The suspects stole a car off Elway’s dealership lot and were apprehended at Mike Shanahans restaurant… which they could not afford to eat at otherwise.

  21. jeffz303 says: Nov 20, 2013 2:09 PM

If they really, really wanted to scare these criminals straight so that they never even consider robbery again, they should sentence them to eat a Papa Johns “pizza”.

  29. jbaxt says: Nov 20, 2013 2:50 PM

Since the Chiefs defense couldn’t get a sack on the field, the chiefs fans retaliated by sacking peypeys store.

  30. greg2geez says: Nov 20, 2013 4:07 PM

  31. somethingsmellsrotten says: Nov 20, 2013 4:30 PM

How much money could there be? Papa John’s sucks.

  32. nfloracle says: Nov 20, 2013 4:32 PM

I bet Manning got the franchises for free, too, from Pappy John himself.

Man, Peyton sure knows how to turn bucks into more bucks. He may not be the NFL’s greatest quarterback of all time because of his lousy playoff record, but I bet he’s earned more money pitching products that any other QB in history.

  33. malvaren18 says: Nov 20, 2013 4:44 PM

It must of been Chief Fan trying to get back at Manning any way they could.

  34. masisk33 says: Nov 21, 2013 3:53 PM

There is absolutely no connection between this robbery and Colorado’s legal marijuana industry.
