Cowboys sign Orie Lemon off Cardinals practice squad

The Cowboys are getting healthier everywhere but linebacker right now, so they’ve decided to add a player at the position.

Sean Lee and Justin Durant are both injured and expected to miss at least this week’s game against the Giants before returning to the lineup. With things stretched tight, the team has signed Orie Lemon off of the Cardinals’ practice squad.

Lemon is a familiar face in Dallas. He spent the last two years with the Cowboys and played five games with the team in 2012, making five tackles before going on injured reserve as part of last year’s avalanche of defensive injuries.

This year’s version may not be done. Bryan Broaddus of the team’s website reports that there’s some concern about DeVonte Holloman’s health after a possible setback in Wednesday’s practice. Holloman missed the last four games with a neck injury and any further injury will only increase the possibility that Lemon will have to contribute on defense in the near future.

I actually liked Lemon during last years preseason, he had a pick and a couple of sacks and I was shocked to see him cut. I also was excited to see Holloman so hopefully his setback was very minor but it will be interesting to see how linebackers do with Sims in middle and Carter calling plays.

Ware/Hatcher need to be able to get pressure to help these guys out.

You know you’re in trouble when you have to pick up players off the Cardinal’s practice squad.

“When life hands you a lemon, I guess you make a linebacker in cowboys case”…
