Dez Bryant to Giants: Let’s get physical

AP

The Giants said that their game plan for dealing with Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant this week is to get physical with him because, according to Giants safety Will Hill, Bryant doesn’t like to be touched.

Bryant was asked about that on Thursday and said that he was just fine with the Giants taking the Olivia Newton-John approach to things. Bryant said he’s never felt that physical defense has been a problem for him in the past and that he welcomes it this Sunday.

“You know, whatever that gets them motivated, all I know is Sunday, I’m going to play my game,” Bryant said, via Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We, us — as a team, as well — are coming out playing our game.”

The Giants kept Bryant from having a big day in their season-opening loss to the Cowboys as he finished with four catches for just 22 yards. For the most part, though, Bryant has been successful against every kind of coverage that teams have thrown his way this season. If he’s successful against whatever the Giants send his way, a fifth-straight win will be harder to come by for Hill and company.

  1. The Giants devoted their entire defensive game plan to shutting him down the first game, and it worked… but they let Jason Witten score two TDs. Even The Hammy Kid had a good game. We’ll take it every time. It’s not about stats. Just W’s.

  2. In the Giants 4-game win streak they have beaten teams with disheveled QB situations or backup QB’s (Phi, Min, Oak, GB)….Romo is not a backup and the Cowboys have plenty of weapons for that D….lets just hope the Cowboys D can stop….somebody….anybody

  3. all I know is Sunday, I’m going to play my game,” Bryant said,

4 catches, 38 yards, 2 drops, 3 times begging the officials for Pass Interference or Holding. 1 towel to cry into.

  4. Team bluster has gotten so tame in the PC age. It used to be players threatening all sorts of mayhem on their upcoming opponents, and dire threats against the personal safety of certain of the opposition. Now, its “we’re going to be physical”. Well DUH, I didn’t think that you were getting together with Alex Trebek, as the moderator to play Sports Trivia.

One thing you didn’t mention was the 6 turnovers that kinda help them out?

Notice how the Steelers conduct themselves with class and dignity?

The true model NFL franchise. Your team aspires to reach our heights.

    So why are you jealous?

So having a quarterback that is accused of multiple offenses against women is high class and dignity. I guess we need to lower our standards then.

Cowgals, with all this talk about ‘Glory Holes’, and now ‘Getting Physical’ & ‘Coming Out’, are really exposing themselves for who the are.

And they are who we thought they were.

  8. I love Cowboys-Giants week! Even in an age where everyone seemingly gets along, these two teams still hate each other. It’s beautiful. I hope the refs put the flags away and let them kill each other.

Uhhhhhh, the Steelers are 4-6, have given up 29 more points than they scored, and have lost to Tennessee, Oakland, and Minnesota. And here you are talking about “reaching heights”. The Cowboys certainly aren’t jealous at 5-5.

It is nice to have a winning legacy and a trophy case in which to revel in the past (and yes your team is the only one with 6 total SB rings), but what counts currently is who wins the ring THIS YEAR.

Baltimore is doing a horrible job of defending their crown, and your Steelers continue to get older, more brittle, and less effective. Roethlisberger won’t finish his career in Pittsburgh, and it will be a long, tough drought for the Steelers before they reach (and ultimately lose) in their next SB. Getting used to this will only cause you to delve more into your team’s past, and your legacy is all you will have to talk about. Your team simply isn’t currently relevant.

With the Giants and their -11 turnover differential and the interception machine you employ at quarterback, ( you know, the guy who’s leading the league in the infamous category), I thought that was a given and not worth mentioning.

  11. Making TO and the 14-2 Cowboys cry in 2007 feels like yesterday. What year did Boley leave Romo lying motionless with a broken collarbone? JPPs slam dunk after a pick 6 last year was great. i could go on…Hoping for a bloodbath on Sunday!! All In! Go Blue!!

  12. Like they are saying in New York this is their Super Bowl . How things have changed in the NFC East. Thank God for the Eagles bring real football back to the division.

    Your quarterback rapes young women.

13-3 actually. Feels like yesterday seeing Eli have a temper tantrum melt down after is pick 6, or was it his second one?
