Gerald McCoy fined $15,750 for roughing the passer

Earlier this week, Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said, via the Tampa Tribune, that he wants to play with more anger over the rest of the season.

His regular level of anger was enough to land him a $15,750 fine from the league for a hit in last Sunday’s victory over the Falcons. McCoy struck Falcons backup quarterback Dominique Davis in the knees, which earned him a penalty for roughing the passer and earned Davis a trip back to the bench because of a knee bruise.

The Falcons looked at free agent quarterbacks earlier this week, but Davis’ injury turned out not be serious enough for him to miss Thursday night’s loss to the Saints.

The penalty was a black mark on a day that otherwise saw McCoy earn nothing but gold stars. He had three sacks and four quarterback hits to help lead the Buccaneers to a 41-28 victory.

It would be a 5 year suspension if it was Suh

Gerald McCoy is a monster on the field. He’s been far and away the best pass rushing DT in football this season. Imagine that defense with Clowney and you’d see an immediate turnaround next season.

This is getting ridiculous. 15 grand for that?

Gerald wanted to make him squeal.

Why has no one discussed the hit on ryan? To me, was much more egrarious than the hit on Brees, with no call.

Yet nothing done toward the golden boy Tom Brady as on national TV he chases down and berates the officials with the F word. Aren’t we all happy where Gödel has taken the NFL.

Apparently getting blocked in the back and falling into the quarterbacks knees gets you fine? We should really fine the offensive line.

I’m so happy the Bucs got McCoy instead of Suh. Though only 6 sacks on the season, he has been the best at causing disruption at his position. As an offensive lineman, you’ve gotta respect his abilities.

Suh deserves every penalty he gets and more.

So you can’t hit high. You can’t hit low! Maybe they should make the QB wear a special uniform with the penalty areas marked off!
