Harbaugh says there’s a chance Pitta plays Sunday

When the Ravens got tight end Dennis Pitta back at practice this week, there was no timetable in place for him to move from practices to games.

There may not be time for them to make one, either. Coach John Harbaugh said Friday that there’s “always a chance” that Pitta is in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Jets. It seems awfully quick for a player to go from being out since August to back in the lineup after just three days of practice, but Pitta said that all options are on the table as long as he’s feeling well.

“We’ll be smart with it,” Pitta said, via Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. “We’re going to see how I feel tomorrow and how I feel the next day and go from there.”

The Ravens would have to make a roster move to activate Pitta in time for this weekend’s game. Quarterback Joe Flacco has missed having Pitta as a target this season, which explains why the team is so eager to have him back in the lineup.

They may have to wait one more week for that to happen, but it does look like Pitta will be part of any playoff push that happens in Baltimore.

  1. I hope this is a good game, both teams are trying to win. The jets need this game in order to stay ahead in the playoff race and the ravens need to keep the season alive. Harbaugh is a great coach and Ray Rice isn’t some push over either no matter how his season is going so I hope our D-line keeps it together and keeps him contained. The jets need to take some pressure off Geno this game and the secondary needs to tighten up for us so Geno doesn’t have to throw it every single down the entire game. I love both these teams but I’m a true jet fan, whenever we don’t make the postseason I always root for Baltimore. Much respect to ravens fans (except coachjohnharbaugh) you seem to keep it classy unlike some of the teams fans we’ve played this season

  2. I would love to see Pitta play, but only if he’s 100%. If he comes back, he will be a huge boost to the offense.

  3. Dennis Pitta > Heath Miller
    Dennis Pitta > Jermain Gresham
We are the pinnacle of the NFL at every position. All others envy our two rings.

  4. Terrible news for Jets fans. Their chances of winning just went from 2% to 1% if he plays.
