Colts owner Jim Irsay and his wife of 33 years are divorcing.  As explained by Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, the development will not affect the ownership of the team.

Jim Irsay will continue to own and control the Colts franchise.

“After 33 years, we have mutually agreed to end our marriage,” the Irsays said in the release.  “Meg will continue to pursue her professional interests and her commitment to our children and grandchildren, while Jim will maintain 100% ownership of the Indianapolis Colts and his other business interests.”

The Irsays have lived apart for more than a decade.

Hopefully his wife is given custody of his twitter account and then has it terminated.

  3. bucrightoff says: Nov 22, 2013 4:30 PM

Well if he’s annoying in real life as he is on Twitter, good for her for making it 33 years.

  4. mvp43 says: Nov 22, 2013 4:33 PM

Kind of don’t blame her…….he’s a horrible tweeter.

Colts will still be owned 100% by a buffoon.

  6. slugbaitspace says: Nov 22, 2013 4:35 PM

How did he fit that many characters into a tweet? And not a single 1337 word, either…

  7. glenuendo says: Nov 22, 2013 4:36 PM

No wonder he spends so much time on Twitter.

Wow who wants to be married when they’re 21. 33 years is quite impressive in that circumstance.

“The Irsays have lived apart for more than a decade.” I’m glad they didn’t rush into a divorce. I bet the Richardson trade was the reason she made the end of their marriage official.

Surprised this didn’t happen a long time ago. I have mutual friends of the Irsay’s and this was only a matter of time… for a long time.

The franchise will eventually pass to his kids. I believe Casey (and AJ Foyt IV) would eventually take over after Jim. Meg had little to do with the Franchise.

    so, to understand that statement…

she will keep her business-stuff and family..

He will keep the colts and his business-stuff… but no family… thats either a tough deal or irsey is heartless and just dont care about family…

  28. bennyb82 says: Nov 22, 2013 6:18 PM

I am surprised we did not see a tweet hinting at a major trade on the horizon.

It is detrimental to the Colts organization and Indy for him to continue to be the owner. A clown and a jerk that had his fortune handed over to him by his daddy, apple didn’t fall far from that tree. It would have been better for all to have been put up for sale an an honest hard working Billionaire buy the team-did I really just say that about billionaires or mega millionaires not quite in the billion strata yet. Bottom line is he makes Indy with all its glory look ridiculous at times.

  32. uwsptke says: Nov 22, 2013 10:04 PM

Maybe she got sick of him saying “Shut up, Meg” using a bad Peter Griffin impersonation.

  33. boomgrounder says: Nov 23, 2013 1:43 AM

Question. Is there anyone else other than me who believes Irsay should undergo NFL mandatory drug testing?

  34. T.D. says: Nov 23, 2013 5:32 AM

    Good luck with that, Jim.
