Kubiak remains upstairs for a second straight week

Kubiak

Texans coach Gary Kubiak wanted to return to the sidelines, three weeks after suffering a transient ischemic attack while leaving the field at halftime of a game against the Colts. For the second straight week, he’ll coach from upstairs at Reliant Stadium.

“I lost the war,” Kubiak joked with reporters on Friday, via a transcript provided by the team.

“I will be upstairs again,” Kubiak said. “So that was decided [Thursday] evening.”

Moving forward, it’ll be a decision made one game at a time.

“I listen to [the doctors] and talk to them,” Kubiak said. “I just say [that] I understand their decision. Just glad to get back and be out there and go to work. I’ll just keep listening to them and we’ll go week-to-week.”

Only six weeks remain in the season. It’s possible only six weeks remain in Kubiak’s tenure as the Texans’ head coach.

The 2-8 Texans host the 1-9 Jaguars; the loser moves closer to securing the first overall pick in the 2014 draft.
