Andre Johnson: “We suck, . . . as an offense”

Andre Johnson, Wade Phillips AP

Once upon a time, the Texans were a good team, and Andre Johnson was a valuable part thereof.

Now?

“We suck,” Johnson said, via Tania Ganguli of ESPN.com. After a pause, he added: “As an offense. That’s pretty much it.”

It’s actually beyond that, as the Texans have lost nine straight, including today’s embarrassing 13-6 decision to the Jaguars.

That had Johnson dispensing brutal truth afterward, when asked if this one made them the worst team in the league.

“I think our record shows it,” he said. “Yeah, if you look at our record, yeah, we’re the worst team.”

That kind of play has Texans fans apoplectic, but Johnson said they deserve to hear it.

“You’re not going to play perfect every single game, but I mean, it’s been bad, you know?” Johnson said. “They were booing us last week. They booed us before. I said it before, if we’re not putting good stuff on the field, we ain’t giving them nothing to cheer about. They booed. They should boo.”

Johnson should too. Quarterback Case Keenum didn’t look his way often (he caught two passes for 36 yards). Part of that wasn’t his fault, as he had little time to look. But Keenum also left Johnson hanging out to dry a few times, putting the veteran receiver in danger more than once.

If your job performance is important enough for people to pay to come watch you (and that may include booing your performance) — consider yourself a lucky man.

The Seahawks broke this team ever since they came back from that deficit on the road against watt and co without 4 offensive lineman the texans have sucked terribly.

The difference between winning and loosing when all teams are full of pros in confidence and continuity

With the first pick of the 2014 NFL draft the texans take…….

Wow! Anyone that knows anything about him would tell you that is his version of a TO level rant. He is a very unhappy man.

People can’t handle the truth, Andre. But you gotta tell it like it is. The franchise has crumbled. GM. Coach. Both have to be fired or you’re not going to get better. Rick Smith completely squandered the Chargers opportunities before destroying the franchise. This is the guy who chose Rivers over Brees. He’s doing it again in short order in Houston. I feel your pain Houston. McNair did this to you so I don’t know how you’ll ever recover.

Rick Smith is the NFL’s worst GM. You have no prayer with him running the show. He will choose the wrong QB in the draft. 100 percent guarantee.

Andre figures they cut Ed for blasting the team after a game, maybe they will cut him too.

Can’t blame the guy for trying.

Only because your HC and GM suck, otherwise things would be fine.

  10. johnnyjagfan says: Nov 24, 2013 7:29 PM

Remember that poor Greg Jones was leaving for Houston to play for a winner…

Suck it, Texans! When we are at our worst, we come into Houston and win. You too, Titans. Bring it to the ‘Bank and we’ll be 4-12 by season’s end with 4 wins in the division.

Well, if Andre wants to leave accommodate his wish. He contemplated requesting a trade in 2009 before the story hit ESPN The Magazine then backed off. He must have a crazy feeling of deja vu right now. This is Capers Bad. 3 Possible #1 overall picks within 12 seasons.

I am going to adopt the philosophy of the honorable Duke of Gaden. Everyone besides JJ and Andre can go. Blow it up, Rick Smith included.

Huh!?!? The Texans gave that game away. Seahawks didn’t break anyone and they were lucky to get a win.

Jacksonville is stupid to start their starters.

Tank ‘em for higher draft picks .

Wow, you’re going to bash him and you don’t even know what you’re talking about – Rick Smith wasn’t the GM in San Diego that chose Rivers over Brees, that was A.J. Smith…lolololol stupid…

Please stop with the revisionist history – the ONLY reason Seattle won that game was due to the Pick 6 from Schaub, who’s on the bench now.

Seattle was missing 4 starting offensive linemen, my point to you texans fans was not that the Seahawks in any way blew out or beat down the texans it was that a team full if backup lineman who couldn’t protect the qb against watt and co .. Still couldn’t get it done ,that was the day the team realized they weren’t very good and Schuab lost the entire team by throwing a pick six.

If the Seahawks just had their two pro bowl linemen and were missing the other two they would have been fine.but playing backup rookies against a confident at the time texans was a disaster ..

Point is after the Seahawks came back ,under the circumstances missing so many key players the texans lost their confidence . And confidence in spots is EVERYTHING… Everyone is supremely talented only the strong survive and look at that game since then they’ve been the laughing stock of football I mean jags won twice TB wins 3 …

I don’t hate the texans but thanks for allowing me to make my point .its clear as day that the victory for the Seahawks demoralized the team and ever since they’ve been the worst in football , blame whomever I’m just stating the most obvious choice.

Htown1035 * every team has injuries and or benchings pointing out a lucky pick six in your mind should allow me to point out the Seahawks were down 7 starters who are now playing and that’s not including Percy .woth both teams at full strength it would be a Seattle blow out and you know this.but funny how you conveniently only care about how lucky one team is who is missing nearly 35% of their overall starters but find a way to win..

  25. 8to80texansblog says: Nov 25, 2013 10:07 AM

Andre has it right on…. this team doesn’t suck… the offense sucks. I believe the Texans still have statistically the best D in football. And when you consider the ineptness on offense and inability to keep drives alive it makes that so much more impressive.

Plus the Texans have lost the last 5 by a combined 19 points. I’m pretty sure they have given up at least 3 non offensive TDs during that stretch….

Kubiak won’t be fired today because that’s not how the Texans do things…. but he ought to be…

First off, quit using injuries as an excuse – every team has them. Second, it wasn’t the Seahawks that started this downward spiral, it was the entire season that started it – we argued after the first 2 wins against SD and Tennessee that they actually could have easily lost those two as well, so they had been playing poorly all season long. If anything, that game was only the demise of Schaub, who totally went into the tank after that game.

The fact is that you barely won against a struggling team with an even worse QB. You still won, but as typical Seahawk fans you feel like you have to justify everything. So don’t bother patting yourself on the back – Seattle was not the cause of the Texans going into the tank – if anything, it was the loss at Baltimore the week before that started it off.
