Trailing 24-14 in the third quarter at St. Louis, the Bears faced a 4th-and-goal from the St. Louis one-yard-line. The Bears kept the offense on the field, and tailback Michael Bush was stuffed for a loss off the left side.
Three plays earlier, Bush dropped what seemed likely to be a touchdown on a swing pass to the right.
After the fourth-down stop, the Rams drove down and hit a field goal, extending their lead to 27-14 with 3:59 left in the third quarter.
It’s been a frustrating day for the Bears thus far. Their defense has struggled, and the offense missed a key third-quarter scoring opportunity.
