In 2008, Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie (at the time when the Chargers) played for most of the season with a fracture in his hip.
This year, the hip has been bothering him again. On Sunday, it forced him out of the loss to the Ravens.
“It wasn’t an impact injury at all,” Cromartie said, via Jane McManus of ESPNNewYork.com. “Something I just planted wrong, and it gave out on me a little bit.”
Cromartie was probable for Sunday’s game due to the hip injury, and he fully participated in practice all week.
“It’s the first time really this season, during my career, that it’s bothered me this much except when it happened in 2008,” Cromartie said. “It’s just a point of seeing what’s going on with it and go from there.”
In 2009, Cromartie complained about teams wanting players to keep quiet about injuries, given that keeping injuries hidden sets up players for criticism when their performance dips, due to the injury.
