Cruz says Scandrick holds on every play

AP

After Sunday’s win by the Cowboys over the Giants, Dallas cornerback Orlando Scandrick had plenty to say about their rivals from New York.

Receiver Victor Cruz also had plenty to say about Scandrick.

He always holds on every play,” Cruz said of Scandrick, via Jordan Ranaan of NJ.com.  “It’s always borderline whether it was pass interference or holding or whatever.  I just don’t think about that and understand that he is going to do that and play through.”

Easier said than done, as evidenced by the fact that Cruz had only two catches for 27 yards on Sunday, a far cry from his five-reception, 118-yard, three-touchdown effort in Week One.

“You just have to understand what you’re coming into and what type of player he is,” Cruz said. “You watch him on the field, he grabs and holds on everyone.  You just have to be able to battle through it and get yourself open.”

Cruz lost the battle on Sunday.  The Giants lost the war.  And the season is likely lost.

  1. The best part of winning that game was not seeing Cruz’s stupid salsa dance. Now he’s crying. It’s like winning twice…

  2. Yeah Im sure hes the only one too Victor. Nice attempt at trying to cover it up too like you werent whining. “He holds, but whatever I just play my game but he does hold”. Anyone can see through that cheap charade. You lost, you got owned by a guy who is supposed to be inferior, and you have been a dissapointment this year, just like your team.

Must be something in the water down in Jersey, everytime you lose you need to come up with a laundry list of excuses to save face. FACT: The Giants are not a good team. End of story.

  3. I think most of these geniuses who comment just read the tagline and immediately begin commenting, especially Dallas fans who won their Super Bowl yesterday.

He clearly said he knows what’s coming and plays through it.

  4. Please…like Bryant doesn’t get held on every play! Cruz, grow up and go eat some soup. And for all of the Eagles trolls on this threat…what happened in Philly earlier this year? I need to hear all the excuses.

    ………….
Maybe you should take your own advice. Yeah, he said he knows its coming, he also mentions it once, then says he knwos its coming, then brings to light again that its relevant.

That’s a cover up to make it seem like he’s not whining, and you and I both know it. Stop pretending otherwise. If he didnt want to get accused of whining, then why say it in the first place?

  6. As far as I can tell, every DB holds on every play, every receiver pushes off on every play, and it’s totally random as to what will be called pass interference on a game to game basis. There is little on no consistency game to game, quarter to quarter, or play to play. Makes watching the NFL lots of fun!

  7. I’m off the New York Giants trip.

    Their receivers are too annoying.

I still can’t believe I cheered for the Cowboys due to the Giants annoying receivers.

Even with super-annoying Dez Bryant… I cheered for the Cowboys to beat the Giants.

Coughlin and the players need to reel them in.

He does. The film shows it. And had Nicks been healthy, he would have paid for doing so, since he had a safety less than 10 yards away on every passing play.

    ————————————————–

Yeah, that Hakeem Knicks and his ZERO touchdowns on the year would’ve been real helpful.

Face it, you’re boy got shutdown by Scandrick. It is what it is, move on.

  9. Well its about that time of the football season AGAIN where the New York Giants fans go back to talking about what’s inside their trophy case instead of what’s going on this season…

Too bad he couldn’t hold Calvin Johnson hahaha Fly Eagles Fly. Cowboys are garbage!

    ————————————————–

    No, Calvin burned them BAD.

However, not a single offensive player for the Eagles even had a decent game against the Cowboys. So there’s that.

Let’s be honest, the Giants & Cowboys are going nowhere in the playoffs anyway so this is irrelevant.

    Eagles > Cowboys + Skins + Giants

That’s an awful lot of trash talk from a fanbase who’s team got smacked around pretty badly and weren’t even really in the game the last time their team played the cowboys. Just sayin’.

  12. To even be in position to have a playoff chance after 0-6 was great.
Either way we were heading nowhere this year. Our game in the trenches sucks.

Even better will be Romo possibly going to the playoffs and (of course) losing when it matters most.

    GO BIG BLUE!!!

  13. Sad, very sad and sorry Giants fans…It doesnt matter who beat who 3 weeks ago or what the color of the gatorade is that Eli drinks (Even tho its yellow; he likes urine)…what matters is that the Giants and Redskins are NOT prepping for their next opponent, they’re prepping for next season…

Sorry how many playoff wins do the Cowboys have in the time Romo’s been QB? 1?

Please cry some more, why don’t ya. Bryant was getting mugged on every play, so there is ZERO room to talk.
    ————————————————————
There’s not a play that goes by where the ball is thrown to Dez where he isn’t crying for a flag. He is constantly pushing off the DBs so he can get separation. The only reason Dez caught any balls at the end was because a safety was covering him, not a CB.

  15. How about Tuck showing his two rings and talking trash after the game on Twitter.

    Sore loser…

And if you wanna play that game Tuck, we got two more buddy

  16. Being a Seahawk fan I know too well what all the crybabies think about defensive backs so called holding. In the last 10 years the league has just about ruined defensive football so receivers can run all over the field and flap their arms and wail that they were held ON EVERY PLAY.

These same show off receivers catch a 5 yard pass and strut around like they just invented a cure for cancer. Cruz is one of the worst.

Some of us actually like football the way it was intended to be played, with offense AND defense.

  17. Dez Bryant is the one who always cries. Cruz isn’t even crying here ha. Dallas fans love to gloat over meaningless wins when they’re going nowhere. I thought they said that was beneath them and only the thing that Super Bowl winless teams like Philadelphia do? Hmmmm.

What happened in Philly was you got to play against Matt Barkley. Think before you type.

  19. Does Victor need a hug? Victor you’re big enough you’re strong enough and Daw Gone It! People Like You…….

  20. Love how the so called non cowboys fans enjoy reading about them come on just say it in your hearts your really fans huh or you wouldn’t be reading about them its OK that’s why there AMERICAS TEAM

  21. Ahhhhhh, now Scandrick “holds” on every play. Typical response from a guy who didn’t get the chance to “salsa” in his own house last night after his teammates guaranteed victory and that there would be blood, but neither statement was fulfilled. If Scandrick held on every play, you would have gotten that call every play. The refs had no issues calling the penalties last night with 18 flags thrown, even though some calls were wrong. Namely, the pass that Dez caught and the ground caused the fumble. This rule is ridiculous. He caught the ball was running with it, got tackled, and then the ball popped out after he hit the ground, but had full possession of it. Stop your whining Cruz, and admit you lost to the better team last night. ADMIT IT!

  23. @ dcstinks says,

“Ice Up Cowboys, you still got to play Philly again”

Whatever. How about you man up. Your Eagles still have to beat Dallas in Dallas. As of right now, you are looking up at the leaders in the division even with the same record. And the Cards, Lions, and Bears will make it very hard for you the rest of the way out. I will spot you the win over the Vikes, but even they won’t lay down.
I expect the Cowboys D to treat Foles with more of the same in their next game, and Ware and Lee should also be available for this game. More of the same, Foles. More of the same.

There is nothing meaningless about being undefeated in your division. Even if you’re in the NFC East.

  25. Apparently, “Cruz” means “2 for 27” in Spanish. Mr Wright’s SO mad hahaha! Eli’s a chump on every play.

Hey Eagles fans, didn’t the Cowboys already beat you by 2 TD’s in your own stadium without Ware, Murray, and Austin? Why yes, yes they did.

  26. “What happened in Philly was you got to play against Matt Barkley.”

What happened was Foles was 11 of 29 for 80 yards before he was put out of the game at the end of the 3rd quarter. The score was 10-0 Cowboys at the time. No Miles Austin, no Demarcus Ware, no Demarco Murray… but year, I’m sure the injury to your scrub QB made the difference ::rolls eyes::

  27. “The only reason Dez caught any balls at the end was because a safety was covering him, not a CB.”

Great strategy with the game on the line, somebody send Coughlin a thank you note.

Cruz got SHUT DOWN by the Cowboys third CB, that’s the real story here.
    ———-

With a safety less than 10 yards away all game. Are you really bragging on this or do you not know football? Nicks being out changed everything, whether you want to admit it or not.

    ———-

Yup this confirms you don’t know anything X’s and O’s. McBride got hurt on the penultimate Dallas drive, which pulled Rolle from center field to playing CB, as Thomas does not have the strength and foot speed to run with Bryant. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back for beating a converted safety in an emergency safety. Had Rolle been playing FS instead of CB, Turnover Tony would have served up that typical pastry as usual, on that drive.

You can tell Dallas hasn’t won anything in 20 years, these low football IQ types beating their chests squeaking out a game against a team that beat itself.

  30. There are two teams DB’s that can get away with that AFC New England and America’s team. Nufsaid…….

  31. Mr Wright, you keep bringing up Nicks when you shouldn’t. Would Nicks presense, despite his lackluster season, have changed the defensive scheme? Sure it would have. But Dallas having Sean Lee, Justin Durant, and Morris Claiborne healthy also would have changed it. Speculating on should woulda coulda based on the presence, or lack thereof, of injured players doesn’t serve as a valid argument for why the game went the way it did because its a 2 way stree. Every team has injuries.

The point is you beat your chest leading up to the game about why the Giants were going to win, and how big a win it would be for them. Now that they lost you spew out excuses and play it off like it was a meaningless win. Youre a walking contradiction when it comes to this game. I have no problem if you want to talk trash, but you need to own up when it comes back to bite you, not back pedal away from the heat. Its as simple as that

  32. So let’s just consider this.

After week 1 when you caught 5 balls for 118 yards and 3 TD’s, you weren’t complaining about Scandrick holding every play.

Before this week’s game you were talking about what a great competitor Scandrick is, and how much you were looking forward to the match up.

But after losing this week’s game and making only 2 catches, suddenly Scandrick holds on every play.

Riiiiiiiiiiight. Sore Loser = Scandrick Holds.
