Steelers place Curtis Brown on injured reserve

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced Monday that cornerback Curtis Brown would miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL against the Browns on Sunday afternoon.

They made that official on Tuesday by placing Brown on injured reserve. Brown was a core special teamer for the Steelers this season, but he played just one snap on defense so his absence isn’t going to cause any change to the secondary that will try to stop the Ravens on Thursday night.

Brown saw more action on defense in the past, but the change in playing time for the 2011 third-round pick doesn’t bode well for his continued presence on the Steelers roster once the season comes to a close.

The Steelers promoted cornerback Isaiah Green from the practice squad to take Brown’s spot on the roster. Green has played in three other games for the Steelers this season during a previous stint on the active roster.
