Tom Coughlin thinks Giants talked too much too

After the Cowboys’ 24-21 victory over the Giants, Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick said he’d never heard a team with a 4-6 record talk as much as the Giants, including guarantees of victory from cornerback Terrell Thomas and wide receiver Victor Cruz.

Scandrick expressed surprise that a team coached by Tom Coughlin would spend so much time flapping their gums since it didn’t seem like Coughlin’s style. Surprisingly, it didn’t stop at the end of the game as defensive end Justin Tuck took to Twitter to fire back at Cowboys fans by referencing past glories.

On Monday, Coughlin agreed with Scandrick. He said he would talk to the team this week about carrying themselves with the requisite humility for a losing team that’s playing out the string.

“‘Talk is cheap, play the game’ is my policy and I, quite frankly, was unaware of the two [guarantees] that were made and people made a big deal about,” Coughlin said, via the New York Daily News. “I don’t believe in that stuff. I think you play the game. I understand there was a little bit of it last week and I don’t believe in any of that.”

The Giants actually haven’t always been that quiet under Coughlin, but past years have seen them better equipped to back up their talk than they are this season. They aren’t able to do it this year, which should mean that Coughlin will be spared any further questions about boastfulness out of his locker room.
