Foles helps complete unprecedented Napoleon Dynamite sweep

Foles AP

Uncle Rico is going to be pissed.

With Bucs quarterback Mike Glennon winning the NFL offensive rookie of the month award and now Eagles quarterback Nick Foles securing the NFC offensive player of the month honors, a pair of Napoleon Dynamite doppelgangers have received major consideration from the league.

Foles set a league record for passer rating in a month, with 152.8.  In three November games, Foles attempted 72 passes, completed 51 (70.8 percent).  He gained 932 yards, and that’s 12.9 yards per attempt.

He also threw for 10 touchdowns, including a record-tying seven in a November 3 game at Oakland.

Foles joins Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, and Mike Vick as the only Eagles players to be named offensive players of the month.

The only good news for Uncle Rico is that neither Glennon nor Foles have demonstrated the ability to throw a football over them mountains.

Both third round picks too, once again killing the notion that good QBs can only be found in the first 10 picks of the first round.

If only uncle rico’s coach would have put him in the game like schianno and Kelley HE would be staring in the NFL today!

Foles, maybe kinda sorta looks like Dynamite but Glennon is a pretty big stretch almost as big of a stretch as it was to try and make a funny out of a Napoleon Dynamite reference.

Nick Foles is a shadow of the QB Ryan Tannehill is. Tannehill has the STRENGTH of a grizzly, the reflexes of a PUMA, and the wisdom of a man

Didn’t the NFL drool all over RGIII and Kaep last season too? How about Locker, Bradford, and Newton when they first started getting playing time?

  13. 4thqtrsaint says: Nov 27, 2013 11:16 AM

To be fair, Uncle Rico played in a different era. He didn’t have the protections afforded to Naploleon. But for his time, he was pretty much the greatest QB ever. With bowhunting skills to boot.

hate to be the pessimist here… but honestly I see these 2 following the same path as their predecessors ( Freeman and Kolb — Vick is patch work fix) They are young with hints of promise… but these are just spurts of success and don’t see them taking either franchise to the promise land ever.

Sorry, but I foresee them destined for Tupperware sales as well.

Do you remember last month’s player of the month … Andy Dalton stunk the joint out on his last game of the month.
Maybe they should wait until the month is actually over before they award this award.

Totally different players. Kolb was always hurt number 1. 2nd he couldnt/wouldnt throw the deep ball. He dinked and dunked on nearly every player. 3rdly Kolb had a much harder time reading defenses and going through is progressions. If his 1st option wasn’t available he would always immediately check the ball down to the rb.

Besides all that Kolb played pretty good for the Eagles. He didnt lose his job for poor play he lost his job because he got hurt and during his time off Vick lite the world on fire. That is why the Eagles were able to get DRC and a 2nd round pick for him. I put his failure in Arizona just as much on Ken Whisenhunt and their horrible o-line and running game as I do on a perceived lack of talent of Kolb.

I dunno what might have been if he never left Philly. All I know is he was pretty good when he was here and not so much in Arizona. But I also know that Arizona had one of the worst track records at developing qb’s when Whisenhunt was in charge.

BJ Denker did what Foles never could at U of A…..beat Oregon
Taylor Kelly did what Osweiler never could at ASU……. Escape mediocrity and accomplish something.

After Sunday Eagle fans will be begging for Vick to be the starter again.
Foles has gotten lucky he hasn’t had to face a Defence like the Cardinals D.
