The word out of Denver is that running back Knowshon Moreno should be good to go against the Chiefs on Sunday despite suffering a bone bruise in his ankle against the Patriots in Week 12.
Moreno was able to play through the injury, but he wasn’t able to get on the practice field Wednesday. Moreno’s status will be something to monitor all week as missing one day of practice isn’t all that significant for a veteran player who could be exercising a little extra precaution. Joan Niesen of the Denver Post reports that Moreno was one of four veteran Broncos who didn’t take part in the session.
Of that group, quarterback Peyton Manning and tight end Joel Dreessen have regularly taken a day of rest on Wednesday to limit the wear and tear on nagging injuries. Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is a different case, however, as he joined Moreno on the list of players dinged up in New England.
Rodgers-Cromartie hurt his shoulder and was described as “day-to-day” by interim coach Jack Del Rio earlier this week, which suggests that they’ll give it another go on Thursday. Tight end Julius Thomas missed the Patriots game with a knee injury, but he was able to return to work on Wednesday.
