After scoring the majority of the Vikings’ points in a 26-26 tie in Green Bay, kicker Blair Walsh earned NFC special teams player of the week honors from the NFL on Wednesday.
Walsh connected on all four field goal attempts (29, 35, 36, 47 yards), hit two extra points and forced touchbacks on 5-of-8 field goals as Minnesota tied its division rival at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
A second-year pro from Georgia, Walsh has followed his Pro Bowl season of 2012 with another sparkling campaign. He has connected on 19-of-21 field goals in 2013, including 10 in a row entering Sunday’s game vs. Chicago.
A sixth-round pick in 2012, Walsh has converted 54-of-59 field goals (91.5 percent) in his regular-season play for Minnesota.
Walsh, 23, is now a four-time winner of the NFC’s weekly special teams award.
