Suh on Thanksgiving trouble: I’m just trying to help my team win

Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is preparing for the fourth Thanksgiving Day game of his career this week which raises the question of what kind of headlines he’ll make with his behavior on Thursday.

Suh was flagged for a personal foul for pushing and shoving with the Patriots as a rookie in 2010 and then he was ejected from the 2011 game after stomping on Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith. Suh got suspended for that move as well, but avoided a suspension and a penalty for kicking Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin while rushing the passer during last year’s game. Suh did get fined $30,000 for that maneuver and the stage is set for this year’s fireworks.

“Man, hey, the only one that I was really in control of was the [stomp],” Suh said, via the Detroit Free Press. “Other than that, I can’t do much more. I’m just going to play hard, be aggressive and help my team win.”

Suh will be reunited with Dietrich-Smith, now starting at center for the Packers, this week. Suh said the two men have no relationship, but they’ve played four times without incident since the stomp heard round the world. None of those games were on Thanksgiving, though, and, as we’ve learned, that’s Suh’s busy day.
