Thomas Davis named NFC defensive player of month

Colin Kaepernick, Thomas Davis AP

We’ve known that Thomas Davis was one of the toughest and most resilient players in the league, after overcoming three torn ACLs.

Now there’s recognition that he’s also one of the best.

The Panthers linebacker was named November’s NFC defensive player of the month.

Davis had 35 tackles during the month, including 17 in the Panthers win over the Patriots on Monday Night Football. He also had a sack, an interception a forced fumble and two passes defensed during the Panthers undefeated month.

All told, the Panthers have won seven straight, and have the league’s best scoring defense, allowing 13.7 points per game.

And the ninth-year linebacker has been a key to that resurgence with his play, not just his inspirational story.

There are not enough awards given to give Thomas Davis the credit he deserves from this year and last. The guy is a warrior and a testament to overcoming adversity.

Awesome – 3 rebuilt knees (well – one knee rebuilt 3 times) and playing with reckless abandon.

I’ve been an Panthers fan since the beginning so I can speak on behalf of all of us that it’ll be a sad day when he decides to hang them up. He’s the kind of person you hope remains involved with the organization in some capacity for years to come long after he’s decided to retire. A world class athlete but an even better dude. KEEP POUNDING

Good for T.D. Fans in Carolina have known his potential for the past few years, he just hasn’t been on the field enough to prove it to the rest of the country.

Who has a better argument than him for comeback player of the year?
